A. The "Open to LAN" thing with integrated client/server is improved somewhat in 12w27a snapshot in that other computers on your LAN no longer have to be able to resolve the hostname of your computer to an IP address to connect. However, it can still be somewhat temperamental in that might or might not bind to your LAN IP, and it uses a random port (that cannot be set) rather than the usual minecraft port. So even if you did simple port forwarding, you would have to forward a different port each time you did Open to LAN. And your friend would have to know what that random port is unless the port forwarding also allows forwarding port 25565 to the random port.
But I have never used hamachi, so I don't know if that would automatically allow his minecraft to find your shared server like a LAN game, or if there is more to it than that.
But I already know how to run a separate server, so for me that would be easier than fiddling with things to get the snapshot client/server working. It would also give you much more control, setting a specific port, who is op, white-list and banned-players, and would allow connecting to any IP on the server which works, instead of the integrated client/server which tends to bind to the wrong IP for me in Linux. Note that you can add an existing single player world folder to a server and point to the world folder in server.properties file.

How do you make a minecraft creative server?
Q. i have a macbook pro and i have minecraftsp (illegal unlicenced copy) and i want to make a creative server for me and my friends is there a easy step by step way to do this? and plz dont give me 2 pages of computer ****
A. You don't have to buy the game to host a server. It takes about 2 minutes and it's completely free!
Instructions.
1. Go to: "http://www.minecraft.net/download" and download server software. (Click minecraft_Server.exe or minecraft_server.jar). If you want a bukkit server get one from bukkit.org.
2. Place downloaded file into it's own folder (for example "Desktop\MinecraftServer"). Windows users can just run the .exe file. Mac or linux users need to open terminal and type "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar".
Pirates: Close the window. Open minecraft.properties (located in the same folder as minecraft_server.jar or .exe) with a text editor and find a line "online-mode=true". Replace with "online-mode=false". Restart the server. This will let players with pirated game to connect.
3. When you see this message:
[INFO] Done (###########ns)! For help, type "help" or "?"
the server is ready for players to connect.
4. Open Minecraft (game). Go to multiplayer menu and enter your IP. You should see a new world. Gui window (or terminal) will say:
[INFO] 'your_username' [/'your_IP':'port#'] logged in with entity id 'your_id' at (X.5, XX.6200..., X.5)
After that you can op players so that they can use /give command (or TooManyItems mod).

Where can I find a good Windows Computer?
Q. Where can I buy a good Windows 7 or Vista PC? I don't want Windows 8. I wouldn't be gaming heavily, probably just Minecraft, SimCity.
I have Linux at the minute and I dislike it. Not really a budget, nothing too crap and nothing to expensive.
